By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit and are, therefore, as true witnesses of Christ, challenged to spread and defend their Catholic faith by word and deed. Preparation for Confirmation is a two year program within the Youth Ministry Program of the parish.
Adults who have not been confirmed are prepared through participation in the RCIA or another special program. They may receive Confirmation from the Bishop at the annual parish celebration or from the Pastor at another time during the year.
Age
In the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the usual age to receive the sacrament is between the ages 12-17. The ninth, tenth or eleventh grades seem to be an appropriate age for the reception of the Sacrament. Individuals who are 17 years of age or are in the twelfth grade should seek the sacrament through the RCIA program. The RCIA program is also available through St. Joseph Church. RCIA.
Confirmation students who have missed one or more classes are required to make up all work that they have missed in order to be eligible to receive the sacrament. All work assignments (or substitute assignments) are available below in PDF format.
